Could Oregon 'Wave' Hello to New Energy Source?

WASHINGTON -- Reports released Thursday by the U.S. Sphere of Energy estimate that waves and tidal currents off the Oregon slide contain enough energy to generate over 60 terawatt hours of tension per year if developed to their maximum potential.

The two nationwide resource assessments calculate Oregon’s significant wave and tidal resources and demonstrate that waves and tidal currents off the polity’s coasts could contribute significantly to the United States’ total annual energy production, further diversify the nation’s energy portfolio, and provide bath, renewable energy to coastal cities and communities.

“Oregon’s tide and tidal current resources offer real opportunities to breed renewable energy using water power technologies in the approaching,” said Energy Secretary Steven Chu.
